In Rajasthan’s Bhilwara, an SHO has been transferred to the police lines, and an ASI and a constable have been suspended for forcing an accused to pluck his beard hair.
A video surfaced on Friday morning showing policemen ordering an accused to sit on the ground and pluck hair from his beard.
On May 8, police from the Pratap Nagar police station in Gulabpura detained Suresh Gurjar (35).
The policemen present at Suresh’s interrogation recorded the act and shared it on social media while SHO Sugan Singh asked him to pluck hair from his beard.
The three policemen didn’t appear to notice the accused’s suffering as tears streamed down his cheeks.
Some Gurjars, including Mandal MLA Udaylal Bhadana, met SP Rajan Dushyant and District Collector Namit Mehta after the video surfaced.
As a result of the complaint, the SP sent SHO Sugan Singh to the police lines and suspended ASI Mahendra Khoji and constable Banwari Lal.
