Police rescue infant from 19-year old kidnapper in Mumbai

A 19-year-old man was arrested by the Navi Mumbai Police on Tuesday for kidnapping a one-and-half-year-old girl.

Hamidul Umaidali Bainsi, a construction labourer,  had kidnapped the child from Khairane village in Panvel while she was sleeping.

Bainsi had also allegedly stolen two SIM cards also that belonged to the girl’s grandfather. Later, he called the girl’s father using a stolen SIM card and demanded a ransom of Rs 50 lakh.

From Bainsi’s mobile phone location, it was made clear to the police that he was roaming around in a radius of 2 kilometres. Navi Mumbai Police Commissioner, Hemant Nagrale, formed several teams to search for the girl then.

Nagrale said the girl was found unharmed in thick bushes two kilometres away from her home. Bainsi was arrested by the police and has been remanded to police custody till June 19.
