Pranab Mukherjee had every reason to be disappointed when I was chosen PM: Manmohan Singh

Former prime minister, Manmohan Singh has said that Pranab Mukherjee was the “most qualified to become the prime minister” when he was chosen for the position and Mukherjee had every reason to feel a grievance then. Singh was talking at the launch of Mukherjee’s book ‘The Coalition Years‘.

Singh also said that his entrance into politics was unintended while Mukherjee was in politics out of his own will. “Pranab

“Pranab ji was most qualified and had every reason to believe that he would be Prime Minister. He had every reason to be disappointed when I was chosen but he knew I had no choice in the matter,” he said.

He also hinted that there was the best bond between him and former president.

His remarks come after his close aide, Sanjaya Baru wrote a book calling him, the accidental Prime Minister.

Singh joined politics when the then PM Narasimha Rao asked him to join the government as the finance minister.

Mukherjee praised Singh for productively running an alliance government.
