Amidst the nominations for upcoming Presidential elections, Anand Singh Kushwaha, a ‘chaiwallah’ and a veteran of 20 electoral defeats, has filed papers for the fourth time for the upcoming presidential polls.
The 49-year-old lives in Gwalior, Madhya Pradesh, who remembers every election he has fought since 1994.
“I am in touch with MPs and MLAs of Uttar Pradesh. I couldn’t get enough votes in the past, however, this time I have been assured that I’ll get support,” Kushwaha said in a report to TOI.
To contest for the head of the state, a support of 50 eligible voters and 50 backers is a minimum required. Interestingly, Kushwaha manages to fund his elections by saving a small amount every day, with which he deposits the security money. Previously in 2013 MP Assembly elections, he got 376 votes.

“I want to make it to the list of successful candidates at least once,” he said.
To afford the cost of campaigning, Kushwaha rides a bicycle and his wife runs the tea stall. According to his affidavit for the 2014 LS elections, he had Rs 5,000 in cash and immovable assets worth Rs 10,000
