On Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s birthday, 17 September that falls on Sunday, all primary schools will remain open in Uttar Pradesh. Although it is Sunday, it has been made mandatory for all students to join the celebrations.

“About 1.60 lakh government primary schools across the state will celebrate PM’s birthday,” informed minister of state for basic education (independent charge) Anupma Jaiswal.

The MLAs who have adopted schools in their region will spread PM Modi’s message of cleanliness in those schools as a part of the celebrations. PM’s dream of a ‘Swachh Bharat’ could only be achieved by creating awareness about cleanliness among children. “This will be the best gift to the PM on his birthday,” a report quotes Jaiswal as saying. Sweets will also be distributed among the students.

Reportedly, UP BJP spokesperson, Chandramohan said that the reason behind this move is PM and CM Adityanath’s purpose of improving facilities for children. “Children are the future of the country and there is no better time to groom them,” he was quoted as saying.
