Barmer Member of Parliament (MP) and Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) leader Col. Sona Ram Choudhary, whose name has been dropped to contest from his constituency in the upcoming elections, in a Facebook post shared that he had β€œan instrumental role to play in connecting the party with the farmer section during the last elections, which was overlooked.”

Colonel Sona Ram, who defeated former Union Minister Jaswant Singh from Barmer in 2014, has been replaced by Kailash Choudhary.

In the Facebook post Sona Ram wrote, β€œ(The decision of not giving him a ticket) it has hurt the sentiments of me and the party workers. I have organised a meeting for the workers on April 9, a further decision will be taken after consultations with them.”

The party on Saturday released a list of 24 candidates across seven states for the Lok Sabha elections, denying tickets to as many as 10 sitting MPs including Union Minister Uma Bharti and five-time MP from Ranchi Ram Tahal Choudhary.
