The Rajasthan High Court has adjourned the court as a lawyer appeared in a vest during a video conference wearing a vest or a baniyan. The incident occurred on Friday as a lawyer, Ravindra Kumar Paliwal, appeared before Justice Sanjeev Prakash Sharma during a video conference in a baniyan.

The lawyer was appearing for his counsel Balaram. Justice Sharma was quick to express his displeasure over the attire of the petitioner’s lawyer. On the request of the Public Prosecutor, Justice Sharma adjourned the matter to May 5.

In the adjournment order given by the Judge, it was mentioned that the lawyer appearing for the counsel was not wearing the proper uniform and that the matter has been adjourned to May 5.

In an interview with India Today, Prateek Kasliwal, Advocate, Rajasthan High Court said that “See, with due respect to the fraternity, I am of the clear view that this is a shameful act which should not have been done. Basic courtesy demands that if you are appearing before a public authority, may it be face-to-face or through video conferencing, you have to be properly dressed and it is not that the lawyers are not aware. Because every day, when the cause list is being prepared, it is clearly reflected that you need to wear pants, a white shirt, and a coat.”
