Rajasthan: Widow’s tongue, nose chopped off by in laws after she refused to remarry

In a brutal incident in Rajasthan, a 30-year-old widow’s nose and tongue were chopped off by her in-laws on Tuesday after she refused to remarry, as per the reports.

The woman has been admitted to a hospital in Jodhpur for treatment.

According to police, Basir Khan, a resident of Jagiro’s Dhani in Sakra block, complained in this regard. Basir said that her sister Guddi was married about six years ago to Koje Khan who died after a year of marriage. After the death of Koje Khan, her sister Guddi’s in-laws began to force her to marry someone else in the in-laws, but Guddi refused, a Hindi daily reported.

“One of the accused Janu Khan has been arrested while two others have been rounded up,” police officer Pokaran Motaram said.

SHO Kanta Singh said that the main accused has been arrested while the search for the remaining accused is underway. According to police, the accused were identified as Janu Khan, Dulle Khan, Iqbal Khan, Hasam Khan, Sali, Farooq Khan, Ambay Khan, Laddu Khan, Manu Khan, Anwar Khan, Salim Khan, Nemate Khan, and Nebe Khan.
