Rajkumar Hirani invited to participate in FICCI Frames amidst sexual harassment charges?

According to reports, Rajkumar Hirani’s film studio, Rajkumar Hirani Films, has been invited to participate in the upcoming FICCI Frames. The organizers of the event have chosen to overlook the #MeToo allegations.

India’s MeToo came allegations came with a cascade of allegations. Many industry names were popped up and women came out of their closets to shame their sexual predators. It came as a shock to everyone when popular director Rajkumar Hirani was accused of sexual harassment, by a woman crew member during the making of Sanju. The woman said that he misbehaved with her several times during the post-production of Sanju. Post the allegations, his name was dropped from the poster of Ek Ladki Ko Dekha Toh Aisa Laga. This was the time when people started noticing about it.

Hirani got support from the industry when many of the Bollywood names backed him. Now, according to a report in Mid-Day, Rajkumar Hirani’s film studio, Rajkumar Hirani Films, has been invited to participate in the upcoming FICCI Frames. The organizers of the event have chosen to overlook the #MeToo allegations. A source told the tabloid, “Hirani has a clean image, and when the allegations came to light, many members of the film fraternity came out in support of him. The members of FICCI decided that until he is proven guilty, there is no harm in having him or his production house on board.”

The source also added that Hirani is in talks and he might conduct a masterclass session at the event. Meanwhile, Rajkumar Hirani denied the allegations of sexual assault. In a statement, he had said, “I was completely shocked when these allegations were brought to my notice about two months back. I had suggested immediately that it is essential to take this matter to any committee or legal body. The complainant has chosen to go to the media instead. I want to very strongly state that this is a false malicious and mischievous story being spread with the sole intention of destroying my reputation.”
