Ahead of state executive meet on Sunday, Bharatiya Janata Party UP chairperson Mahendra Nath Pandey has clarified that Ram Mandir has never been a poll agenda for BJP. Keeping in view the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections, all the parties have geared up for the preparations. Where oppositions are getting united to make their stand strong against BJP, Uttar Pradesh chief minister Yogi Adityanath and state party chief Mahendra Nath have also called a state executive meet.

The meeting will have CM Yogi Adityanath, state party chief Mahendra Nath, Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh, all cabinet and state ministers, top leaders and office bearers. BJP has cleared that the party has a target to win total 73 seats from Uttar Pradesh, though the final confirmation will be given only after the meeting.

Explaining BJP’s election agenda, Pandey says, “Ram Mandir has never been an agenda for BJP in elections. BJP only supported the proposal of building a Ram Mandir propounded in Palampur during 1989. The Mandir is a symbol of cultural unity and a subject to Hindu mythological believes. It was never used as an election agenda. The Central and state BJP is always committed to the development”.

On Sunday, Amit Shah will be giving tips to the party workers on how to prepare for the upcoming 2019 Lok Sabha elections. According to a BJP leader, during the state executive meet, BJP leaders will be guided how to strengthen the party’s reach in areas dominated by SP-BSP and to reach out to maximum number of voters by highlighting achievements of both the central and the state government. The recent drubbing in series of bypolls will also be discussed. The Western UP district, Meerut has been chosen for the state executive because of a sizeable population of Dalits, backward classes and Muslims there.
