Jharkhand: Bench headed by Harish Chandra Mishra, granted bail to Chhotu Verma, the 10th convict in Ramgarh lynching case.
The verdict came following the bail granted to other eight convicts for the same by Jharkhand High Court. They were convicted by a lower court of lynching a man named Alimuddin Ansari, 40, on June 29 last year in Jharkhand’s Ramgarh.
Recently, Union Minister Jayant Sinha was under the political spotlight as he met the convicts at an event organised by the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) to welcome the high court’s bail order and felicitated the convicts.
The controversy erupted after photographs surfaced showing the minister welcoming them at his residence. Sinha was also seen garlanding the eight convicts in the Ramgarh lynching case at his residence on the outskirts of Hazaribagh.
Victim Alimuddin was lynched on the suspicion that he was transporting beef in his vehicle, which in turn was later set on fire.
