Sawan 2022: Sawan month holds a special place in Hinduism. Hindus observe fast on the Mondays of this month and worship Lord Shiva. During this period, Lord Shiva is worshipped every day.
In Hinduism, it is believed that the month of Sawan is the month of Shiva. This year, the month of Sawan will begin on 18 July 2022 and end on 12 August.
So, we know that the holy month is around the corner and we are here with the dates of all the Sawan Somvaar or the Mondays of the Sawan that are extremely important for the devotees.
As Shravan begins, devotees participate in the Kanwar Yatra to collect the sacred Ganga water in pitchers hung to a bamboo pole with ropes for Lord Shiva.

Sawan Somwar Shivji Puja Vidhi
Wake up at Brahma Muhurta (precisely two hours before sunrise)
Take a bath and wear clean clothes.
Sankalpa (align your thoughts and channel your energies according to the divine occasion).
Clean the altar (platform or puja ghar) with Gangajal and purify your home with the sacred waters.
Dhyana – Meditate and connect your inner self with the Lord
Asana – Respectfully place the idol (or Shiva Linga) of Lord Shivaon a wooden platform (chowki) or altar meant for puja.
Padya – offer water to the Lord’s feet.
Arghya – offer water to the Lord for washing his face and hands.
Achaman- pour water from your left hand onto the right palm and drink it.
Snana – offer water to the Lord for bathing. You may use water, milk, Gangajal, honey, curd, ghee, etc., to do the Abhishek).
Vastra – offer a fresh piece of cloth (preferably white) to the deity
Yagnopaveeth – offer the sacred Janeyu and Akshat to the Lord
Gandha – offer Chandan paste
Pushpa – offer Datura flowers, Vilva leaves etc
Dhoop – offer incense sticks and dhoop
Deep – offer an oil lamp
Naivedhya – offer bhog
Tabulam – Coconut, fruits, pan supari and dakshina (cash).

Pradakshina or Parikrama/ Circumambulate – stand up on your feet and turn around from your right.
Pushpanjali – offer flowers and do pranam
Kshama Prarthana – Apologise to Lord Shiva for any mistake you may have committed while performing the puja.
