On Monday, the Supreme Court ordered a medical examination of Justice CS Karnan of the Calcutta High Court. The court has also ordered for a medical board to be formed to investigate Justice Karnan’s mental condition. The medical examination is scheduled on May 5 and the reports are to be submitted on May 8 as per court orders.
The bench of seven judges headed by Chief Justice Jagdish Singh Khehar ordered the making of the medical board to examine Justice Karnan. Meanwhile,  no court or authority in the country would take notice of any orders passed by Justice Karnan.
The apex court had invoked its powers to initiate contempt proceedings against Justice Karnan for writing letters accusing on several judges. Justice Karnan has been accused of circulating letters against sitting High Court judges of the Madras High Court, and he has also allegedly written about Supreme Court judges in his letters to the Prime Minister’s Office.
