Soon after the massive rally by the Maratha Kranti Morcha, the Maharashtra government on Wednesday announced various schemes and benefits to the community. The benefits of concessions in fees to 605 vocational courses, earlier applicable only to the other backward classes, will now be extended to students from the Maratha community.

The government will also provide skill development training to 3 lakh students from Maratha farmers’ families, interest-free loans to students for industrial units, among others. Although the matter of reservation remains pending in the Bombay HC, the government has announced a cabinet sub-committee, headed by revenue minister Chandrakant Patil, that will discuss issues related to the reservation with community leaders every three months.

A delegation of various organizations participated met chief minister Devendra Fadnavis at Vidhan Bhavan. The CM told them about the measures taken by the government to expedite the process of reservation and ensure speedy trial in the Kopardi rape case.

Fadnavis, later informed the Legislative Assembly the ruling in the Kopardi rape case has been delayed due to the delaying tactics of the counsels representing the accused.
