Somalia: Over 275 dead in most dreadful bomb attack, toll may increase

In what is being seen as the most dreadful attack of Somalia, at least 276 people have died in double car bombing in Mogadishu that took place on Saturday.

The country’s Ministry of Information on Monday announced the latest death toll and said that 300 people remained in hospitals after the 14  October attack. It added that the number of casualties may rise as rescuers continue to pull more bodies from the rubble.

The Office of the President on Sunday announced the nation is in three days of mourning, with the national flag lowered at half-staff to honor those killed.

No group has claimed responsibility for the attack till now.

The first explosion destroyed dozens of stalls and the popular Safari Hotel in the heart of the city, while the second vehicle bomb went off in the nearby Madina district minutes after the first blast.
