State education minister of Rajasthan, Vasudev Devnani wants former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee’s life sketch to be included in textbooks of schools under the policy of adding stories or work of national heroes to evoke nationalism among children. He has demanded to include a biography of the legendary leader in the schools’ syllabus to inspire students.

Although he is not sure which class of the schools should the biography be added but the chapter will have topics including Vajpayee’s childhood stories, nuclear test, Kargil war and global impact.

“Vajpayee’s statesmanship has no parallel in modern India. His life sketch has the immense potential to transform and inspire the lives of youths. By adding his life sketch, we would like a tribute to the departed soul,” said the minister, Devnani.

The entire syllabus of the schools’ textbooks was revised in 2015-16 by the State education department where several bios of national heroes were added. The new inclusions were of RSS ideologue Veer Sawarkar, founding father of BJP Deen Dayal Upadhyaya and others. On Vajpayee, three paragraphs were added then for class 9 syllabus by the government.
