New Delhi, Feb 4 (IANS) After resigning from the post of Secretary in Uttarakhand Congress, party MLA Harish Dhami met Congress General Secretary K.C. Venugopal here on Tuesday.

After the meeting, Dhami said, “I have met Venugopal ji and expressed my grievances. He has assured me that he will find a solution to the problems.”

Dhami said he will go back to Dehradun and meet party MLAs to decide on the future strategy.

The two-time MLA is upset for being ignored for important positions in the party. Dhami had resigned from his post as party secretary after accusing leader of opposition Indira Hridyesh and state Congress President Pritam Singh of sidelining him in the party.

The Uttrakhand Congress is a divided house as there are many factions within the party, including that of former Chief Minister Harish Rawat, said a party insider.

The Congress is gearing up for the 2022 Assembly polls in Uttrakhand.

Congress lost the last Assembly elections in 2017 following which the winners BJP formed government in the state. Even the then Chief Minister Harish Rawat lost his seats from Kichha and Haridwar rural.

After the election debacle, many Congress leaders, including former Chief Minister Vijay Bahuguna and senior leaders Satpal Mahraj, Yashpal Arya and Harak Singh Rawat left the party and joined the BJP.
