After a report surfaced on a TV channel in link with the death of Congress MP Shashi Tharoor’s wife Sunanda Pushkar, the former Union Minister termed it as “misrepresentations and outright lies.”

“Exasperating farrago of distortions, misrepresentations and outright lies being broadcast by an unprincipled showman masquerading as a journalist,” wrote Tharoor in a Facebook post on Monday night.

“I am angered that someone would exploit a human tragedy for personal gain and TRPs. I challenge him to prove his false claims in a court of law,” added the former UN diplomat.

On January 17, 2014, Sunanda Pushkar was found dead at a suite in a five star hotel in South Delhi.

The Republic TV claimed that Pushkar’s body was moved from one place to another and the murder scene and body was tampered before investigation. The channel also aired 19 telephonic conversations between a correspondent and a close aide of Tharoor, who was present in the hotel then.

The report said that the Congress leader had re-visited the hotel after leaving it at 6.30 am, which he had not informed to the investigating agencies.

Delhi police Chief Amulya Patna refused to comment further saying that the investigation is on in the case.
