Telangana: Man demands bribe money back after wife loses Panchayat polls

In a bizarre incident which took place in Telangana, a man insisted the villagers to return the money he had paid to them to vote for his wife in Panchayat polls. The video of the incident which took place took place in Jajireddy Gudem village in Suryapet district, went viral on social media featuring the husband who went around the village, knocked door-to-door to collect his money.

According to the reports, In the second phase of the election held on January 25, Prabhakar’s wife, Uppu Hymavathi who contested for the post of sarpanch got just 24 of the 269 votes in the village.  Reportedly, the couple paid each voter between Rs 500- 700, in return for the promise of a vote.

However, as the villagers didn’t elect Hymavathi, her husband went around the village demanding the voters to return the money. Prabhakar succeeded in getting his money back from few, while many refused to return it.

One of the villagers approached by him argued that he had no money to return. But, insisting on the return of the money, the contestant’s hubby offered 10 salutes to the voter.

The last phase of the Panchayat elections will be held on January 30.
