Telangana: Telugu to be made compulsory in all schools, says CM Chandrasekara Rao

Telugu has been made compulsory in all schools in Telangana. Chief minister, K Chandrasekara Rao, instructed officials in the education department to make the language, a compulsory subject from classes 1 to 12.

Rao further said that only education institutions teaching Telugu as a compulsory subject should be given permission and recognition to function. The order will come into force with immediate effect and the education department is required to take steps to ensure that the implementation of the CM’s orders is done.

Further, the CM said that all public and private establishments and institutions in Telangana must have Telugu display boards. He said that the names of the organisations must be displayed in Telugu.
