In a recent tweet, President Donald Trump has posted a picture of his with a Game of Thrones style text reading “Sanctions are coming”. Trump has also added a date below that caption, November 5. November 5 is when the US is going for their midterm elections.
The reference is to a popular saying, Winter is Coming, from an internationally acclaimed TV show(Game of Thrones). In that show, the phrase is often used to describe a long cold season whose end date can never be predicted. The tweet is seen by many as a sign of warning to Iran.
Trump administration has been in direct confrontation with the Middle East nation for a long time now. It was in May this year when President Trump quit from the 2015 nuclear deal that was signed by President Barack Obama with Iran.
Setting militant funding as the prime allegation, the Trump administration has already made multiple dents to Iran’s economy through sanctions. Iran’s energy sector has bored the greatest brunt.
