Tulsidas Jayanti is celebrated every year on the seventh day after in the Shravan month to honor Goswami Tulsidas. This year the day falls on July 27.
Tulsidas is famous for several pieces of writing. However, he is best known for writing the epic Ramcharitmanas. The core of the Ramcharitmanas is considered to be a poetic re-telling of events of Ramayana which was originally written by Maharishi Valmiki in Sanskrit. Tulsidas’s version of the Ramayana was vastly popularised amongst the masses and eventually, the Ramayana became a significant component of India’s popular culture.
He is also the composer of Hanuman Chalisa which is a popular devotional hymn dedicated to Lord Hanumana. Lord Ram Maa Sita and Lord Hanuman combined puja is done on this day.
Most of the life of Tulsidas was spent in the city of Varanasi. As a mark of respect, the famous Tulsi Ghat on the Ganges River in Varanasi is named after him. Sankatmochan Temple, a famous temple dedicated to God Hanuman, is believed to be founded by Tulsidas.

Tulsidas was a divine follower of Lord Rama. His dedication and devotion to the Lord were unique. Some legends say that Tulsidas was the incarnation of Maharshi Valmiki. This day is the lunar day of Shravan Shukla Paksha Saptami. The day of Tulsidas Jayanti is of very high religious significance in Hinduism and celebrates the unique contribution of Goswami Tulsidas.
On the auspicious day of Tulsidas Jayanti, various recitals of Sri Ramcharitmanas are held in temples of Lord Hanuman and Ram all over the country.
