Tupac Shakur, also known by his stage names 2Pac, Pac, and Makaveli, is a rap icon not only within the music industry but also outside of it due to his poetic delivery of words, persona, and outlook on life. Tupac became a victim of the criminal rap world and a tragic symbol, as he was murdered when he had so much more to offer the world, just like so many others who left us too soon. He began as a backup rapper and performer for Digital Underground before producing and releasing his debut album “2Pacalypse Now” in 1991. However, Tupac had a sensitive side, which is evident in his lyrics and singles such as ‘Dear Mama.’ Suge Knight, the CEO of Death Row Records, bailed Tupac out of prison after nine months in exchange for a three-album contract. Early in 1996, Tupac released the double-album “All Eyez on Me,” which, along with its hit single “California Love,” confirmed his unrivalled superstar status.
Unfortunately, the gangster-rapper lifestyle portrayed in Tupac’s music quickly consumed him and put his life in peril. At the height of his career, he fought fellow rapper Notorious B.I.G., and he and Death Row Records were also at odds. The rivalry between East Coast and West Coast hip-hop intensified, and on September 7, 1996, Tupac was shot multiple times in a drive-by murder after attending a boxing match at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. A few days later, on September 13, he passed away in hospital.
Tupac’s death stunned the world, with hundreds of mourners gathering outside the hospital where he died to pay their respects. The entire entertainment industry was jolted, particularly due to the lack of leads in the investigation. Still, it was believed that Tupac’s death would put an end to the East Coast/West Coast rivalry. However, six months after Tupac’s death, Notorious B.I.G. was murdered under identical circumstances. Tupac’s death was followed by a number of posthumous releases, the most notable of which were “Don Killuminati” and “R U Still Down?” in 1996 and 1997, as well as “Still I Rise” in 1999, “Until the End of Time” in 2001, and “Better Dayz” in 2002.

He believed Biggie had prior knowledge of the attack, which Biggie denied.
The friendship between Tupac and Mike Tyson dates back to 1991, and during their first meeting, Tyson had no clue who Tupac was; Tyson later described Tupac as “incredible. You knew he was a unique individual when you were in his presence.”
