New Delhi: After the successful launch of India’s first UDAN Yatri Café at Kolkata Airport in December 2024, the initiative has now expanded to Chennai Airport. The low-cost café, launched by Union Civil Aviation Minister Ram Mohan Naidu, aims to provide passengers with affordable and hygienic refreshments.
With growing passenger demand, the concept is set to expand nationwide, and Delhi Airport (IGIA) is next in line.
According to Delhi International Airport Ltd (DIAL) CEO Videh Kumar Jaipuriar, plans are already underway to introduce the Udan Yatri Café at Indira Gandhi International Airport, making it the next major airport to adopt the initiative.
The Udan Yatri Café is designed to provide cost-effective food and beverage options at airports, where high-priced refreshments have often been a concern for travelers.

This initiative falls under Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “inclusive flying”, making air travel more convenient and accessible to all.
The café aligns with the UDAN (Ude Desh Ka Aam Nagrik) scheme, which aims to democratize air travel and modernize airport infrastructure.
Apart from affordable cafés, Chennai Airport is also implementing digital solutions like Digi Yatra and Trusted Traveler Program E-gates, enhancing passenger experience through seamless check-ins and boarding.
With its success at Kolkata and Chennai, the Delhi Airport’s UDAN Yatri Café is expected to launch soon, offering passengers a budget-friendly alternative while traveling.
