UK’s Houses of Parliament came under attack on Wednesday from a knife-wielding assailant who plunged a vehicle through a crowd of people on Westminster Bridge and then he brutally stabs an officer to death. This is one of the deadliest attacks in Britain after the attack of 2005 which killed over 52 people.
In view of the terror attacks, Europe has faced a number of them, especially since last year. From Brussel to Nice, blasts have torn apart throngs of people. However, this attack caused levels of inconvenience to the member of parliaments, as they were trapped inside the building for hours whereas Theresa May was driven to a safer place in a car.
Late on Wednesday night, Mark Rowley, acting deputy Metropolitan Police commissioner, confirmed that the force’s working assumption was that the attack had been “inspired by international terrorism” and was “Islamist related”. The attack killed five and injured 40. Notably, London has been the target of terrorism.
On interrogating the PM, she says that such attacks can’t affect the integrity of the nation. “Tomorrow morning, Parliament will meet as normal,” she said. Londoners and visitors “will all move forward together, never giving in to terror and never allowing the voices of hate and evil to drive us apart.
