UPS Life Certificate 2026: Pensioners under the Unified Pension Scheme (UPS) can now complete their yearly Life Certificate process using their mobile phones. The Pension Fund Regulatory and Development Authority (PFRDA) has started a new service called UPS Jeewan Setu – Digital Life Certificate (DLC). With this service, pensioners won’t have to travel to pension offices to submit their certificates.

PFRDA shared this update through a circular on October 30, 2026. It has also asked UPS pensioners to submit their certificates by November 30 every year.

What is UPS Jeewan Setu and How Does It Work?

A Life Certificate is a document that proves a pensioner is alive and can continue receiving their pension. Every year, pensioners have to provide this proof so their payments don’t get stopped.

In the past, many pensioners had to go to a bank or pension office to submit this document. But the new UPS Jeewan Setu service lets them do it through their phones instead.

The app checks the pensioner’s identity using Aadhaar details and face verification. They can complete this check by using their phone’s camera. After the process is finished, the system creates the Digital Life Certificate and checks it through Aadhaar.

How Can UPS Pensioners Submit Their Digital Life Certificate?

Eligible pensioners can generate their certificates through the NPS by Protean eGov mobile application, also referred to in the official instructions as the NPS, UPS and APY Mobile App. The process involves the following steps:

1. Open the NPS, UPS and APY mobile application on your smartphone.

2. Select the ‘UPS Jeewan Setu – Digital Life Certificate’ option from the home screen.

3. Enter your Permanent Retirement Account Number (PRAN) and date of birth.

4. Enter the OTP received on your registered mobile number to verify your details.

5. Select the Aadhaar option and enter your Aadhaar number.

6. Click on ‘Continue with Aadhaar’ to start the authentication process.

7. Select ‘Face Authentication’ and complete the face verification.

8. After successful verification, the system will generate your Life Certificate.

9. A confirmation message will appear once the certificate has been generated. Click on ‘Done’ to complete the process and exit the application.

10. Your Digital Life Certificate will then be validated through Aadhaar.

Pensioners should check that their PRAN, date of birth and registered mobile number are correct before starting. They should also keep their Aadhaar details ready to avoid problems during verification.

What is the Last Date to Submit the UPS Life Certificate?

The deadline for submitting the annual UPS Digital Life Certificate is November 30 every year.

PFRDA has made it clear that all pensioners under UPS must complete this requirement on time. Missing the deadline could lead to interruptions in their monthly assured pension payments.

The authority has also asked nodal offices to inform eligible pensioners about the new facility and explain how they can use it. Pensioners who haven’t submitted their certificates should complete the process before the deadline rather than waiting until the last few days.
