Allahabad high court’s Lucknow bench rejected the provision of the state government notification on March 9 that said the MBBS pass outs who had obtained their degree under all India quota for MBBS courses from medical colleges situation outside UP were eligible for admission in PG courses in the state through NEET PG-2019.
Bench if justice Alok Mathur passing the order said that the state government is giving preference to students of Uttar Pradesh to participate in the councilling for NEET PG 2019 against the seats of state quota and on the other side, students who have studied outside Uttar Pradesh are not allowed to participate in the selection process.
A written petition was moved by some MBBS pass outs from KGMU from the other states. Allowing it, the court said that the parties are free to proceed with the counseling of the candidates selected through NEET-PG 2019 for admission to the state quota of seats of postgraduate MD/MD/MDS courses in various government and private medical/dental colleges/institutions/state university and PG diploma courses etc on the basis of merit list prepared as per the eligibility for admission as per the scheduled detailed in the UP counseling brochure.
A new policy was made under which the state government has decided to allow those passing with MBBS outside UP to do their MD and MS courses in the state.
Amid the counseling for admission to MBBS and PG courses, the medical department order was challenged in the court.
This amendment of the policy has angered the MBBS pass outs of the state.
