Veteran Bengali poet Nirendranath Chakraborty passes away on Tuesday in Kolkata. He was 94. Chakraborty was suffering from old age ailments for a long time. In his writings, in the unknowable King Poetry, he had harbored a socialist mohabbadi social system.
Nirendranath Chakraborty won the Sahitya Academy Award in 1974 for the book of poems Ulanga Raja (The Naked King)In 2007, the University of Calcutta awarded him an honorary Doctor of Science degree.
