With the cases of sexual assault on the rise, there seems to be no escaping the predators. Though campaigns such as #MeToo have given people a courage to speak up about the sexual harassment they have gone through, yet, several painful stories remain unspoken.

Recently, an author Jennifer Wright taking to her respective Twitter account, shared the results of a survey done by researcher Jackson Katz who asked men and women what do they do on a regular basis to avoid being sexually harassed and the answer chat is going viral.

The list is certainly a disturbing one. Despite many protections schemes, awareness campaigns, woman feel unsafe all round the clock in every corner of the world. Women do have to be paranoid and keep their safety as their topmost priority for every waking (and even sleeping) minute of their lives.

In comparison to the women society, men don’t have the fear of getting sexually harassed when they step out of their homes on a regular basis.

Netizens reacted strongly to the results

It did not take long for people to notice the tweet, which went viral with over 33,505 retweets and 57,300 likes at the time of writing. Not everyone agreed with the credibility of this research; however, one can hardly deny that there is a lot of reality to it. While some women ventured to add a few more things to the list, some of them pointed out how apart from taking care of themselves, they also lookout for other women, to make sure they’re safe.

How men responded to the research

In case you’re thinking this was getting into a one-sided argument real soon, it wasn’t. There were plenty of men who offered their own two cents, agreeing primarily that it’s a hugely unsafe world for women out there.
