War 2 OTT Release Date: Finally after what felt like a century of waiting and endless memes, War 2 is crashing onto Netflix on 9th October 2025. Mark your calendars, or just set a reminder till Netflix shoves it in your face. Took them about eight weeks after the big screen run, which is the new normal for Bollywood blockbusters especially when they’re not exactly setting the box office on fire.
Netflix India posted the announcement on social media with the line:
“Double the rage. Double the rampage. Ready for the War? Watch War 2, out 9 October on Netflix.”
If you can’t handle Hrithik Roshan’s Hindi one-liners, the movie’s streaming in Telugu and Tamil too. Full pan-India swag, no FOMO if you skipped the mad rush at the theaters.
War 2 hit cinemas on August 14, 2025. Bold move, right before Independence Day, when every other big movie tries to grab eyeballs. But, honestly the reviews were not so good. Some people loved it, others called it a two-hour flex-off with guns and attitude. Rajinikanth’s Coolie dropped around the same time so tough crowd.
Money-wise, War 2 did decent with around ₹364 crore worldwide, but there’s drama about the exact domestic haul. Some say ₹236 crore, others swear it’s ₹283 crore. Either way, it didn’t touch the OG War (2019) numbers.
Eight weeks out is kind of the trend these days, especially for big titles that didn’t quite explode like expected. You have to keep the hype train rolling, and maybe squeeze out some extra love from people who’d rather chill at home than brave popcorn prices.
Why October 9th, though? Well, Netflix loves a neat schedule. Early October gives them time to hype it up, and it doesn’t get lost in the Diwali content tsunami. Plus, people in smaller towns get a shot at watching it fresh.

But here’s why it’s bigger than just another action flick: War 2 is a keystone in the whole YRF Spy Universe think War, Tiger, Pathaan, and whatever else they’re cooking up. The OTT release means more people catch up, setting the stage for the next crossover extravaganza.
