Activision’s Call of Duty Warzone is getting bigger by the time. The updates, guns, and now potentially new map. The tradition of leaking things before the official announcement continues in the Activision world as a rumored new Warzone map that will be replacing the current version of Verdansk has been leaked online.

The trailer of that map looks pretty real and now authentic too as Activision has been making a huge effort to remove it from the internet – even though it doesn’t really show anything very unexpected.

The new map is more of an evolution of Verdansk’s design rather than being a fresh map built from the ground up. It looks like the new map will have a 1980s setting, with Cold War-era landmarks. It also features new areas, including a mineshaft as per IGN.

The 1980s setting is meant to tie-in to last year’s Black Ops Cold War game and if not for the pandemic would’ve been added a lot sooner.

“We certainly see Warzone as a very large ecosystem that can continue to engage players and provide places and spaces for people to gather,” said Snow. “In the upcoming seasons, you’re going to see some really cool new stuff that Warzone has never done before. It’ll be really exciting and done in a Call of Duty way.”

The clip which was taken down swiftly by Activision can be seen on Reddit.

Call of Duty: Warzone is available on PS4, Xbox One, and PC, and playable on PS5 and Xbox Series X/S via backward compatibility.
