A video of a CRPF soldier has gone viral on social media for all the right reasons. The video shows a Sikh army officer feeding lunch to a differently-abled child who is sitting on the stairs of a shop in Jammu and Kashmir.

Identified as Havaldar Iqbal Singh, he was one of the drivers in the CRPF convoy that was attacked in Pulwama by a Jaish-e-Mohammad suicide bomber on February 14. The incident left 40 jawans dead.

Soon, the video drew attention on Twitter and won appreciation from one and all. Some said that we all should be like Iqbal Singh, some applauded the ‘humanity’ and said that nothing could be above this gentle quality. Some lauded the Sikh community while some felt proud of the gentle head constable.

Taking to Twitter former Jammu and Kashmir chief minister and Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chief, Mehbooba Mufti posted, “Armed forces operating in Kashmir are often tarred with the same brush. But that generalisation can sometimes be grossly unfair. Salute this man’s sense of compassion and humanity.”

For his compassionate act, Singh has been awarded the Director General’s Commendation disc and Commendation certificate. The award is given to personnel in recognition of any outstanding work of commendable nature in their career.
