The BJP’s success in Assembly polls after the 2014 Lok Sabha verdict signalled the continuation of the Narendra Modi wave in India. Even the 2017 by-polls witnessed BJP’s landslide victory. While India took Modi’s promises of ‘Acche din’ as gospel, there is not much Indians have gotten in return. Be it curbing corruption or promises of cheaper electricity for the poor or reducing the number of farmer suicides, India seems to struggle on.
Stressing on the government’s promise to create more jobs, campus recruitment has suffered a hit including the crème de la crème universities of our country. Tax continues to increase, a drastic reduction in Defence budget first time in the history, Bharat is not as swacch as it was promised. In fact, even after paying 0.5% extra cess, beside the huge cleaning tax we already pay to the municipal corporation, not much cleanliness is observed. Inflation, hike in petrol prices and what not?
However, Modi government’s victory in majority of the states definitely doesn’t seem like a sign of unhappy voters. While we continue to wait for achhe din, here is a video which will best describe BJP’s sellable promises and the status of Indians.
