West Bengal: Left candidate Mohammad Salim’s vehicle attacked in Raiganj

Kolkata: Stones were thrones at CPM Raiganj candidate Mohammad Salim’s car as he was on his way to cast vote in Patagora.

Reportedly. Salim’s convoy was attacked by unidentified men in Islampur. Bricks were also hurled at the cavalcade.

Salim is the sitting Member of Parliament from Raiganj. This was one of the two seats that the Left party had won in the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections. He is pitted against Congress’ sitting MP Deepa Dasmunsi,

Polling is taking place on Bengal’s three seats on Thursday, April 18, in the second phase of the Lok Sabha elections. Voting is carried out in Darjeeling, Raiganj and Jalpaiguri seat.

A shocking incident came to light in Purulia, where a 22-year-old member of the BJP’s youth wing, Sisupal Sahis, was found hanging from a tree.
