West Bengal: Train goes engine-less for 2 kms, major accident prevented

Many lives survived for what could have been an extremely horrific accident. In Bengaluru-Tinsukiya, a weekly superfast express, an accident was averted. The train ran without an engine for almost 2 kms, leaving as many as 21 coaching vulnerable to an accident. The coaches thankfully stopped on their own near a railway station in Alipurduar.

The incident took place at around 9 am on Thursday. It took the driver around 7 minutes to realize what had just happened. The train resumed its journey once the engine was again attached. Apparently, the joint allegedly broke down once again later.
