Congresswoman Lauren Boebert: Lauren Boebert won the GOP primary in Colorado’s Fourth District with over 43% of the vote. Although she has served two terms, she is facing criticism for moving to this district after struggling to win re-election in her old district (CO-3).
Boebert will face Democrat Trisha Calvarese in the upcoming election. During a recent debate, Boebert had trouble defending her record. Calvarese criticized her for not having the skills to effectively represent her constituents. While Boebert highlighted her votes against big spending, Calvarese argued that by rejecting proposals too quickly, Boebert misses opportunities to bring important funding and jobs to the district.
Posting snippets from the discussion and restating her talking point, Calavarse persisted in her assault on X. The congresswoman is yet to accept a televised debate or make a public statement regarding the incident.
Congresswoman Boebert easily won in 2020, but even though she won by a margin of 546 in 2022, she came dangerously close to losing her seat. Despite the 4th district’s reputation as a GOP bastion, her inclusion on the ballot may make it more difficult to hold onto.

Lauren Boebert had no previous political experience before being elected to Colorado’s Third District. Her background includes her owning a rifle according to her congressional bio “the proud owner of Shooter’s Grill, a Second Amendment and Western-themed restaurant in Rifle, Colorado where staff open-carried.”
In the 2020 Republican primary, Boebert defeated Scott Tipton, a five-term incumbent, despite Tipton being endorsed by Trump. Boebert then won the general election by a large margin against her Democratic opponent.
Since joining Congress, Boebert has been a strong supporter of Trump and is known for her far-right views within the GOP. In January 2022, she was appointed as the spokesperson for the Freedom Caucus.
Although she has stated that she does not endorse the Qanon conspiracy theory, she has expressed sympathy for it, and much of the electoral fraud that has been propagated is presented on her campaign page on “election integrity,” which has been refuted.

During her time in Washington, Lauren Boebert has been involved in several controversies. Early in her term, she caused a commotion when she was initially denied entry to the House chambers because her suitcase set off metal detectors. Boebert, who is a strong advocate for the Second Amendment, later claimed she was permitted to carry a gun in Washington, DC.
After the January 6 Capitol riot, which involved Trump supporters attempting to overturn the 2020 presidential election results, metal detectors were installed. Boebert was one of the 147 Republicans who voted to reject the official election results.
In the last 4 years, she has faced criticism for various actions, including heckling President Biden during the State of the Union address and making derogatory comments about Muslim members of Congress.
She was taken out of a live performance of “Beetlejuice” at the Denver Buell Theatre last year. It was decided that she should leave the family-friendly event because she used a vape pen, made noise during the show, and groped her date.
