Commerce and Industry Minister Nirmala Sitharaman on Wednesday said the government is working at various levels to make India an investor friendly destination.

Speaking at the India Summit 2016 organised by The Economist, she said the government is removing obstacles to make economy more vibrant and provide transparent and accountable governance.

Sitharaman said that Intellectual Property Rights policy along with legislative framework is TRIPS compliant.

The Agreement on Trade-Related Aspects of Intellectual Property Rights (TRIPS) is an international agreement administered by the World Trade Organization (WTO) that sets down minimum standards for many forms of intellectual property (IP) regulation as applied to nationals of other WTO Members.

Speaking on the issue of free-trade agreements (FTA), the minister said that review of FTA’s is an ongoing process. She said that post Brexit, FTA with UK is possible only when it comes out of European Union.
