Paris, Oct 17 (IANS) France superstar football player Kylian Mbappé returned to visit his childhood club here on Wednesday for the first time since he won the 2018 FIFA World Cup.

The 19-year-old forward, who plies his club trade nowadays with French powerhouse Paris Saint-Germain, was awarded a certificate proclaiming him a citizen of honour in Bondy, a commune in the north of the French capital where he first entered the world of football as a youth player for the local team, an epa-efe photographer reported.

The young talent, who has already made his name as one of the best players in the world, played a key role in France’s 2-1 victory over Germany in Tuesday evening’s Nations League encounter, a display in which his blistering speed caught widespread media attention, reports Efe news agency.

Mbappé was born in Paris to a Cameroonian father who coached Bondy’s squad.

He made his way through the ranks at AS Monaco before transferring to PSG on loan in 2017 before the Qatari-owned club decided to buy him.
