All private and public sector banks in India are closed on Sundays, as well as on the second and fourth Saturdays of every month. Besides this, banks are closed on various public and national and regional public holidays as well.
In the tenth month of the year i.e., October in addition to the regular holidays there shall be a few extra holidays as well given the fact that a few regional festivals would be celebrated. The holiday of banks also varies according to the festival celebrated in different states of the country. Regional holidays are decided by the respective state governments and, as such, customers should visit the official website or branches of their respective banks to check about bank holidays in their region.
In the month of October, festivals like Durga Puja, Mahasptami, Mahanavami, Dussehra, Milad-e-Sharif, Eid-e-Milad-ul-Nabi Barawfat / Lakshmi Puja, Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel Jayanti / Maharishi Valmiki Jayanti / Kumar Poornima will be celebrated due to which banks in certain states will remain closed.
Apart from the festivals and national holidays, second and fourth Saturday and Sunday are also declared as holidays in every bank, including SBI, Punjab National Bank, Axis Bank, and ICICI Bank.
