After cabinet’s decision, it got nod from the health department. According to National Rural Health Mission (NHM) and Rashtriya Bal Swasthya Karyakram (RBSK) following are the rise:

  • Ayush doctors to get a 5% annual increase with a monthly honorarium of Rs.44,000
  • Lecturer and Health officer of Ayush college to get 10% annual rise with monthly honorarium of Rs.75,000
  • The reader to get 10% rise with a monthly honorarium of Rs.86,500 and

The rules and conditions of services are same for both Ayush and general doctors except their salary. The state wing of Ayush Medical Association (AMA) was demanding the increase in salary of Ayush practitioners working in government facilities be made equivalent to MBBS doctors. According to health department reports, there are 1,384 ayush doctors currently posted at different primary health centers (PHCs) and additional primary health centers in the state. These doctors work under National Rural Health Mission.

Talking to Newsd, Dr. Madhurendu Pandey, president of AMA Bihar said, “We have received immense respect in form of equal honorarium parallel to other streams of doctors. In any other state, Ayush doctors are far from enjoying this status. Likewise Bihar, this decision should be implemented by all other state governments too. Mangal Pandey, state’s health minister has played a pivot role in taking this decision. Lastly, we express our gratitude to Nitish Kumar for fulfilling our demands.”
