A case has been registered against Congress MP Shashi Tharoor before Patna Chief Magistrate for allegedly hurting religious sentiments. A hearing in the case will take place on Friday.

The case follows Shashi Tharoor’s tweet on Wednesday where he said, “(You) want to keep the Ganga clean and also (your) sins. Everyone is naked in this confluence.”

For the first time a cabinet meeting of the state had taken place outside Lucknow. The UP government’s cabinet met at Prayagraj amidst the Kumbha Mela.

Shashi Tharoor is an MP from Thiruvananthapuram. He served as the Minister of State for Human Resource Development in the UPA-II government.
