Bihar shelter home: Third death, 2 others missing, runs a chill in the air

Another woman inmate at a shelter home in Patna dies on Friday. Weeks after the women of shelter home died the third inmate’s death came as chilling news. The 27-year-old woman was suffering from mental disability and was taken to Patna Medical College and Hospital (PMCH) after she complained to find difficult to breath on Friday.

“She had been complaining of breathlessness and was severely anaemic. She died at 8 pm,” Patna Medical College and Hospital superintendent Rajeev Ranjan Prasad told news agency PTI.

A police complaint has been filed after the two women in their early 30s went missing from the shelter home. More than 70 women stay are staying in the shelter home started on May 1.

Two arrests were made after the death of a 16-year-old girl and a 40-year-old woman in August. Manisha Dayal and Chirantan Kumar were the owners of the NGO, police arrested them on the suspicion of having role in the deaths. According to police, neither the NGO owners nor the officials of the state run facility and the PMCH inform police about the death of the girls.
