Chhattisgarh Janata Congress Chief Ajit Jogi will not contest upcoming assembly election and he will focus on campaigning for the grand alliance in the state, his son Amit Jogi told media on Friday.

Amit Jogi further said that Chhattisgarh Janata Congress has formed a ‘grand alliance’ with Bahujan Samaj Party and Communist Party of India (CPI) and the alliance has decided that Ajit Jogi will not contest in the assembly election.

“He (Ajit Jogi) will concentrate on the whole state and will campaign for all the candidates instead of fighting elections himself. The aim is to strengthen the party campaign and form the government in Chhattisgarh,” said Amit.

Earlier, Ajit Jogi announced that he will fight the election against Chief Minister Raman Singh from Rajanandgaon constituency.
