Drug-racket busted in Bihar: 2 women among 6 arrested with 68 kilo ganja

Busting a massive inter-district drug racket in Bihar, six persons along with two women have been arrested and 68 KG of Ganja (marijuana) recovered from Kaimur district of south-west Bihar. The value of seized drugs is approximately 25 lakhs, says the Police.

A team lead by Mohania sub-divisional police officer Manoj Ram intercepted a sports utility vehicle (SUV) on National Highway (NH)-2 near Durgawati, 183 km south-west of Patna, arrested three persons and recovered from them 10kg ganja kept in two sealed packets, said a Hindustan Times report. Those arrested in the SUV were identified as Manoj Kumar Gupta, driver Mithilesh Kumar Sharma of Sasaram and Vinod Sao of Baraon. The arrested persons revealed that they had lifted the ganja from Masarh near Ara in Bhojpur district, 55 km west of Patna.

The arrested persons also confessed to having delivered consignments of the contraband to Sanjay Dubey at Dehri-on-Sone in Kaimur district and Raj Kumar Gupta of Khajura Bazaar on Bihar-Uttar Pradesh border, police said. Following the information, the police then raided Gupta’s house and an associated shop to recover 58KG of ganja.

Gupta, his wife Chanda and mother-in-law Bechari Kuwanr had been arrested for allegedly involving in smuggling ganja.
