Gold and Silver Rates Today, August 17: Gold and silver prices jumped up a bit in the Indian market on Monday, August 17, 2026 with precious metals following the upmove seen in global markets. On MCX, gold futures were seen around ₹1,55,170 for 10 grams up about 0.23% while silver futures picked up roughly 0.57% to ₹2,38,620 per kg at approximately 9:13 am IST.
The latest movement comes as global gold prices gained amid a weaker US dollar and changing expectations around the Federal Reserve’s monetary policy. Reuters reported spot gold up 0.4% at $4,391.49 per ounce, while silver rose 1.4% to $65.57 per ounce.

At the India level, 999-fine silver was reported at ₹2,37,270 per kg, while 925 sterling silver stood at ₹2,19,475 per kg. The 999-fine silver rate was reported to be more than double its level a year earlier.
Among the cities covered, Chennai recorded the highest quoted 999 silver rate at ₹2,39,040 per kg, followed by Hyderabad at ₹2,38,730 and Bengaluru at ₹2,38,530.
