Jimin’s FIFA World Cup Record $110,000 Jersey

The loudest moment from the auction was the sale of Jimin’s jersey worn during BTS’ performance at the very first FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show. In the end the jersey sold for $110,000, which matches the price paid for the official World Cup final match ball and it also nudged past a bunch of other well known sports memorabilia pieces.

BTS Memorabilia

In addition to Jimin’s jersey, fans and collectors bid on several stage-worn items from the other BTS members, including:

  • RM’s boots
  • Jin’s belt
  • SUGA’s pants
  • j-hope’s gloves
  • V’s scarf
  • Jung Kook’s jacket

A scarf worn by V and a jacket worn by Jung Kook each sold for $46,200, while Suga’s pants fetched $33,000 and J-Hope’s gloves sold for $28,600. Together, the seven BTS items generated $300,300, accounting for about 46 percent of the auction’s total proceeds.

About One Goal Auction

The “One Goal” auction was organised by Christie’s, FIFA, and Global Citizen to raise funds for the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund. The initiative seeks to raise $100 million to improve access to quality education and football opportunities for children around the world.

None of the artists who showed up for the FIFA World Cup Final Halftime Show, BTS included were paid for their appearance. The whole thing was more about fundraising and global social impact than anything else.

ARMY’s Philanthropic Impact

About the ARMY’s philanthropic effect, it gets a little layered. After the auction, Global Citizen came out and publicly thanked the BTS ARMY and they noted that bids on BTS items made up a big chunk of the total money raised. The organization basically commended fans for turning their fandom into sincere help for children’s education specifically through the FIFA Global Citizen Education Fund.

On the internet, fans were excited and the auction results were all over social media, with lots of posts saying the real winners weren’t the performers but kids and communities who will actually get the benefit from the donations.
