JSSC CGL Exam Cancelled in Jharkhand: Jharkhand’s Chief Minister Hemant Soren, on Monday, August 17 announced a broad revamp of the state recruitment exam system. He also announced that examinations carried out through TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL) since 2014 will be cancelled.
This came during a long student agitation where students were alleging irregularities in government recruitment examinations.
The Jharkhand Cabinet further decided to call off the JSSC Combined Graduate Level (JSSC-CGL) examination and the state government said it will start a wider probe into exam related problems that go back more than a decade.
“Today, we held a special Cabinet meeting to bring this matter to a conclusion. After considering all aspects and finding solutions to the issues, we have decided to cancel all examinations conducted by TDPL, the results published by TDPL, and the selection or participation of any candidates through TDPL. All activities undertaken by TDPL in this regard have also been cancelled,” Soren said.
“We extend our heartfelt thanks to all the students, parents, members of the media, the police administration, and especially the Jharkhand government and CM Soren for supporting and cooperating with this movement. We express our gratitude for taking the students’ issues seriously and fulfilling our demands; most importantly, the investigation is being conducted meticulously, and every corrupt individual involved is being apprehended,” said Student leader Devendra Nath Mahato.
The Jharkhand Cabinet has decided to cancel every examination run by TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd since 2014 and the outcomes that were published via the agency.
The government has also announced the cancellation of the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission Combined Graduate Level examination.
The government has separately said that the 14th JPSC examination and backlog examinations will also be cancelled, adding to the scale of the examination reset.
The government has ordered a broader investigation into alleged mistakes and irregularities in recruitment examinations conducted in Jharkhand since 2014.
The Jharkhand CID has begun investigating the matter. On August 17, CID teams also conducted searches at the JSSC office in Ranchi as part of the probe. According to the Times of India, the state investigation had resulted in 20 arrests, including former JPSC chairman L Khiangte.
Soren announced the formation of an examination reforms committee headed by senior IAS officer Amitabh Kaushal.
The government has also indicated that the existing examination SOPs will be strengthened. A consultation portal has been opened to receive suggestions from students, teachers and parents which will subsequently be shared with experts.
The Chief Minister said the government would introduce strong legislation in the interest of students.
The larger reform package has measures like a time-bound yearly assessment calendar, technology secured exams, prompt release of answer keys and OMR sheets and more accountability across several levels in the hiring process.

The decisions follow weeks of protests by students and government-job aspirants over alleged irregularities in recruitment examinations.
The JPSC-JSSC Reforms Manch has been demanding comprehensive reforms, cancellation of the JSSC-CGL examination and a CBI investigation into alleged irregularities. The agitation had entered its 24th day by August 17, with six protesters reportedly continuing a hunger strike.
TSR Data Processing Pvt Ltd (TDPL) is an outsourced agency that was involved in conducting recruitment examinations for government bodies in Jharkhand.
The current controversy concerns examinations and recruitment processes conducted through the company. The government’s decision now covers TDPL-linked examinations dating back to 2014, along with their results and associated selections, according to the Chief Minister’s announcement.
