Jharkhand CID Arrests Five: The Crime Investigation Department (CID) of Jharkhand has arrested five more people tied to the alleged Jharkhand Public Service Commission (JPSC) recruitment scam, and now the total number of arrests in the case is 19. These new arrests are coming while investigators keep looking into allegations of irregularities in the recruitment process, at the same time as students keep protesting asking for transparency and accountability.

Overall, the matter has turned out to be one of the bigger recruitment controversies in the state, which is why an intensive Special Investigation Team (SIT) led probe is going on, along with fresh calls for reforms in the whole recruitment system.

Background of the JPSC Recruitment Scam

The case basically grows out of allegations about serious irregularities in recruitment examinations held by the Jharkhand Public Service Commission. Protesting students have said there was malpractice and they demanded the exam process be made transparent. Many called for cancellation of the disputed examination and a broader probe into recruitment practices as a whole.

This controversy has kicked up large scale demonstrations in Ranchi and in other parts of the state, while aspirants argued that deserving candidates were hurt by the alleged irregularities in some way.

Student Protest and Government Response

Even while the CID was going harder, representatives of the protesting students reportedly agreed in principle to have talks with the Hemant Soren government. Student leaders have said that any discussion must be transparent and done in front of the media, and the state government has replied it is ready for dialogue to break the protest.

Officials have indicated that the investigation remains active and that additional arrests or legal action may follow if more evidence emerges. The SIT is continuing to analyse documents, electronic records and statements collected during the probe.
