Kalyanpur (SC) Assembly Constituency 2025: Kalyanpur (SC) is a scheduled assembly constituency that is under the Samastipur district of Bihar. It comes under the Samastipur (SC) Lok Sabha constituency. The geography of this region is mostly rural, agricultural being the main source of living of the people. The presence of Dr. Rajendra Prasad Central Agriculture University at Pusa block which is nearby, has a major impact on the region’s agricultural practices, as it is a place for the research and development of the various crops and also for the new cultivation and farming techniques.
This has made it possible for the farmers to have the access to the most recent techniques and also the trainings. The voters of Kalyanpur (SC) are of different kinds with the members of Scheduled Castes forming a big part of them which is also very much evident from the fact it has been categorized as a reserved seat. In the 2020 assembly elections, Kalyanpur had an electorate of 3,24,420 in total, out of which 1,72,305 were male voters and 1,52,115 were female voters.
The political scene of Kalyanpur (SC) has been very dynamic and multi-party system has been a characteristic of it. In the 2020 Bihar Assembly elections, Maheshwar Hazari of the Janata Dal (United) (JD(U)) was able to collect 72,279 votes, constituting 38.46% of the total votes and thereby securing the seat. He was able to defeat Ranjeet Kumar Ram of the Communist Party of India (Marxist–Leninist) (Liberation) by 10,251 votes. Ram got 62,028 votes at the same time.
Looking back at the last ten years, we can say that Kalyanpur (SC) has seen the transformation of the political affiliations. The seat was taken up by Maheshwar Hazari of JD(U) in 2010. But RJD’s Manoj Kumar Yadav was able to win this seat in 2015. In 2020 RJD lost the seat to JD(U). So this means that the electorate’s political preference fluctuates, and both JD(U) and RJD have a significant presence in the area.
