A college principal in Sirsi smashed the cellphones of students on Thursday after he was furious at students for using mobile phones on the campus.

The principal of MES Chaitanya PU College, RM Bhat had repeatedly warned his students not to use cellphones and allegedly, some of the students even used phones in the classroom to exchange messages.

Also, a few days ago, Bhat had reportedly warned students that if he caught those using phones, he would destroy them in the college itself. On Thursday, he conducted a surprise check and seized 16 mobiles from students.

He had then asked the students to assemble and smashed the phones with a hammer. His action attracted criticism as well as appreciation. The video of the incident also went viral.
